Learn Pisanki with Lorraine using a stylus to create traditional designs on fresh eggs. You will take home the skills as well as all of the supplies to create more eggs.
Each student will decorate a traditional Eastern European Easter egg. The method taught is called pisanki. Students use a kystka or stylus in which they melt bee's wax over a candle flame and then write or draw on a raw egg before dipping it in dye. This process is repeated 3 to 5 or 6 times using wax between colors.
Students will receive a kit to take home with 5 colors of dye, Bees wax, a stylus, instruction and an egg. Jars of Dye are provided at the class so everyone can make a beautiful egg. Refreshments are served and instructional handouts are given out. Students must pre register for this class ASAP so there are enough kits and materials. It is suggested that each student bring a taper candle stub, a short candleholder and some paper towels. Kit and all other supplies included in $ 25 registration.
